Water Tank Lining & Relining

In 1994 we designed and manufactured revolutionary new potable water tank liners for relining old and corroded water tanks using flexible polypropylene, this is vastly superior to the butyl systems as it has increased resistance to ageing. Its joints are heat welded as opposed to solvent, which dramatically improves the material’s durability and chemical resistance. This ground breaking invention provides the perfect solution to a host of different issues.

Flagon Water Tank Liners

As our water tank liners are manufactured prior to the site work, installation is extremely quick. Water tanks up to 6000 litres can be completed within 3 – 4 hours, with larger tanks normally completed within the day. In most circumstances this means work that would normally be done on weekends or out of hours, can now be completed during normal working hours.

Our potable water tank liners can be installed in small one piece tanks or large multi sectional tanks, the main benefits are:

  • Rapid Installation – Most small to medium sized tanks can be lined within 6 hours

  • Cures Leaking Tanks – Existing tank used to support the weight of the tank and contents only, lining provides watertight integrity

  • Solvent Free – No solvents or cure time required meaning rapid installation and immediate refilling.

  • 10 year Guarantee – Full no quibble guarantee issued on the completion of all lining works

  • No Cure Time – Immediate filling on completion of lining, all joints hot air welded.

  • Glass like Finish – Extremely smooth finish means future cleaning is easy and inspections are simple.

  • Potable Water Compliant – DWI and WRC compliant material.

EPDM & Butyl Water Tank Liners

Our EPDM and Butyl water tank liners are predominantly used when refurbishing or relining sprinkler storage tanks. Linings are generally manufactured in two sections, with the wall drapes installed first, followed by the liner base. The tank lining base is RF welded to the lining shell, followed by the re-connection of all tank fittings. This method is used primarily, due to the sheer size of this type of application. An average sprinkler water tank relining project, has capacities of around 100 – 800,000 litres.

Water Tank Relining Applications

  • Leaking Tanks

  • Severely Corroded Tanks

  • Sprinkler Tanks

  • Bunded Areas

  • Acid Tanks

Water tank lining applications are crucial for maintaining the safety, cleanliness, and structural integrity of tanks used in both industrial and domestic settings. These linings create a protective barrier that prevents water from seeping into the tank walls and stops contaminants from entering the stored water. Common materials used for water tank linings include butyl rubber, EPDM, flagon, epoxy, polyurethane, and cementitious coatings, each selected based on the tank’s material and usage. Proper lining not only prevents corrosion and leakage but also extends the service life of the tank and ensures compliance with hygiene and safety regulations.

Whether for potable water, firefighting reserves, or industrial water storage, a well-applied tank lining minimises maintenance needs and reduces the risk of costly repairs. The process typically involves cleaning, surface preparation, and coating application, all handled by trained professionals. In short, water tank linings provide a reliable, long-term solution for safe and efficient water storage across a range of environments.
